Holy Cross Catholic School
The renovation of a historic nunnery building, which once housed the Sisters of Holy Cross, coupled with an addition to the rear of the building provides the children of Holy Cross School with a spacious, technologically equipped education center.
The new school provides a Media Center Art and Music Classrooms, Computer Classroom, and Cafeteria along with the traditional learning classrooms.
The historic character of the north façade remains prominent from the street, while the south façade, facing the parking lot, is a strong contrast.
The atrium celebrates the union of old and new with large areas of glass creating the transition.
The addition uses matching brick and a modern glazing system to blend with the original building and is sited to provide an atrium meeting space.
